One of the most common issues faced by ad publishers is invalid click and serve issues which can cause AdSense accounts to be temporarily restricted or reviewed. Even worse, Google AdSense can block publisher accounts that are categorized as having serious account problems.
So, if you’re having a similar problem, don’t worry. Through this article, it is hoped that click-and-through issues as well as account restrictions can be resolved easily so that you can play a role in content monetization again with Google AdSense.
Please read this article to the end as a guide to experimenting.
The guidelines reviewed on this page are not another attempt to manipulate the intellectual property rights of the AdSense program, but are based on the program’s recommendations.
This means that this guide is safe and legal for you to practice in accordance with the terms, conditions and applicable program policies.
Based on the definition from Google contained in the Glossary, states that
In the definition, it is clear that invalid clicks can come from the results of accidental or intentional clicks (manual), malicious software such as automated robots designed by humans using certain applications and others.
For example, you have a blog that has been monetized with AdSense, then intentionally clicks on your own ads in an effort to increase revenue, it can be considered a violation which refers to invalid click cases. And vice versa with accidental clicks / use of automatic clicking robots.
Ad publishers who ignore this provision can receive sanctions in the form of account restrictions and even blocking which is often said to be Banned.
Not much different from the notion of clicks, invalid impressions have also been explained by Google in the Glossary with the statement that
In other words, the intended impression is the view of each ad unit on a device used by the user.
This is different from website or blog pageviews, although they are still counted in Google’s system. This refers to the display of advertisements placed on the pages of a website or blog.
Then, when the impression is considered invalid?
Well, here’s the explanation.
Invalid impressions are counted when you open or view your own web page with ads installed. The count also varies according to the duration, repetition and type of device size used. If you open with a desktop device the calculation is larger than on a smaller mobile device. However, doing so may be considered a violation.
Actually, AdSense doesn’t prohibit viewing your own site’s page impressions. What is prohibited is the viewing of pages accompanied by linked ads. If you often read articles or documentation from the guidelines for using its services, Google has explained and even directly provided guidelines for publishers/advertisers in order to avoid the risk of violations.
If you want to see a safe web page without ads when making posts, use the preview menu.
Usually, bloggers are no stranger to a menu called “Preview”. In Indonesian it is called “Preview”. Usually this menu can be found in the Blogspot dashboard, and others, including AdSense itself to see the optimization of ad placement.
The menu can prevent you from serving invalid. Because Preview is a platform specifically designed to see the appearance of sites that are considered not ready to be published to the internet and fortunately this menu is very suitable for the AdSense system.
If you use the blogspot platform, pressing the menu will not display ads from AdSense, so it is still safe to use properly. However, Google Analytics can still track this activity even if it uses the incognito window.
As far as experimentation goes, this isn’t bad because AdSense ad impressions in preview cannot be seen.
There is also another way by using an adblocker application to disable the display of ads on the site. However, the practice with these applications cannot be recommended 100%, especially the free ones that allow them to not work optimally.
Apart from clicks and impressions, traffic from a site is also carefully analyzed.
In general, traffic can be defined as the movement of information from one place to another. In this case, the intended movement is visitor browsing traffic on a site on the internet. Where and how did you get to the site.
This is an analysis of the source of suspicious site traffic and/or that triggers invalid clicks and impressions. Usually, termed invalid traffic jargon (invalid traffic). Account restrictions due to invalid traffic are cases that can lead to, but are not limited to, permanent closure of a user’s account from the AdSense program.
Each case of this violation is only the experts who are able to explain it in detail.
However, every publisher must know that in some cases classified as violations they can be subject to sanctions, for example, by deducting revenue from invalid traffic, ad restrictions and account blocking.
Of the three examples of sanctions, I think that withholding income is a minor violation, advertising restrictions is a moderate violation and blocking an account and/or domain is a serious violation.
AdSense which is a product of Google has a very sophisticated system that is impossible for its users to manipulate. That’s why they always provide explanations regarding program policies that publishers and advertisers who want to participate in their services must comply with; including me, who wrote this guide, bro.
It’s obvious that if a publisher is rumored to be getting restricted status in the service, it can have a bad effect on his mind. Thoughts that include feelings of disappointment, upset and even sadness. Everything can get jumbled up in a publisher’s mind. Especially if the income is more than enough and is not only considered as additional income.
Well, for those of you who are experiencing ad restrictions, don’t worry too much. This article was created to help you troubleshoot related accounts.
Advertising Restrictions. Although the restrictions do not always come from these three things, but based on the experiments that have been carried out and the troubleshooting guidelines recommended by AdSense, with this, it is hoped that the problem will be resolved quickly.
Remember that there is no guarantee about this because the only competent one is the product owner himself, namely Google. This is just an additional help that may or may not be successful in a short time.
Okay. Now pay attention and read carefully what things need to be done when restrictions occur.
Based on the Google Program policies contained in the AdSense help page it states that:
It is clearly stated that the issue of ad serving restrictions is aimed at protecting ad publishers, ad owners and other users from the risk of a bad experience. That’s the main reason they put restrictions.
During the restrictions, Google will continue to review and analyze the development of the traffic quality of problematic sites.
At this time, it usually takes them 30 working days to collect sufficient data from the related site traffic, but it can also take longer depending on the criteria of the problem.
But don’t despair just yet…
Google is still trying to provide opportunities that can be done, through the following suggestions:
This means that during the restriction process, publishers are needed to be proactive in dealing with problems on the site by continuously updating quality content that can build an audience.
From the quote above, sometimes we as readers don’t really care about the sentence. Read it and then just ignore it. Actually, in the last quote there are two main ideas suggested by Google AdSense to help solve issues related to publisher accounts, namely:
Both of the above are interrelated and aim to drive quality traffic to the site so that the restrictions can end soon. The development of this traffic can be seen through visitor statistics, both through the statistics of the platform used and Google Analytics.
To create content doesn’t mean publishers have to create as much as possible every day or every hour. That is, publishers are advised to create content that is original, unique and attractive to readers/audiences. That’s called quality content.
What is the intended content like?
Like this means.
Quality content is content that provides benefits and good experience to readers or searchers of your content on the web. Original content is content that does not come from other parties’ products. In other words, original content is not plagiarized from other sources for its own sake or is considered as private property. Usually, it’s content that has no more benefit than the original source. Remember that quoting and plagiarizing are different. While unique content is content that is produced with its own characteristics.
In fact, the explanation of creating content is very broad in scope. This time, the explanation is limited to the important parts that support troubleshooting related to AdSense accounts only.
Build an audience. There are many ways to build an audience to your site, but only a few methods are considered viable for quality AdSense landings. Yes, of course, content activists on the internet know this method.
Well, to make it easier to understand how to do it, here are practical steps you can take if ad restrictions occur on your monetization account.
Things to do when there is an AdSense ad restriction:
This action aims to minimize the occurrence of account blocking when the site experiences serious violations.
Here’s an example of code that needs to be removed, at least the main code:
or
Latest version code:
If you don’t want to bother, then delete all the code installed on your website or blog. Once deleted, the domains registered in the AdSense site dashboard do not need to be disturbed.
When using the blogspot platform, traffic can be seen through the Statistics (Stats) menu.
So far, you can see where your visitor traffic is coming from. However, through blogspot, this method is very limited.
You also can’t see the type of traffic coming to the site. That is why the installation of Google Analytics is highly recommended so that users of blogspot and other platforms can find out more detailed site traffic statistics.
If you still don’t have Google Analytics (GA) installed on your site, install it right away. With GA, you can easily monitor the development of your site’s traffic, starting from organic, direct and referral traffic.
In the context of monetization, from that type of traffic, organic is the best traffic and benefits publishers/advertisers. The traffic comes from searches of search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, duckduckgo and others. The more organic traffic, the better the quality of site traffic.
Referrals are traffic that comes from backlinks from other sites and occupies a position after organic. For example, you have article content and share it on social media, where when readers click on the content they will be immediately redirected to the original website page. That’s what backlinks/referrals mean in simple terms.
Based on GA statistics, referral traffic can come from traffic connected via facebook, blogspot, twitter and others. Referral traffic has a lower quality value than organic.
Direct traffic (none) is traffic that goes directly through the link / site url relationship. This traffic is not good enough for ad landing quality.
In the GA dashboard, this traffic is detailed in great detail and one of them is in the form of a bar chart. Here’s an example:
Well, with this traffic bar chart, you can analyze the source of the problem with ad restrictions coming from.
Simple tips:
If you find a backlink site address that is not common, which comes from the intentional act of an irresponsible party, immediately drag it into the trash.
By registering a site with Google Search Console, it can help Search Engines find your site’s content and show it in search results when web searchers enter certain queries in the search box.
Quality content is not only seen from how many words are written on each page. But it is also seen how important your writing is to the reader which can be monitored through the duration and frequency of engagement with audience/reader visits through statistical data.
Avoid opening the site yourself, stop promoting excessive content through social media or in any way that you think Google doesn’t see. It’s all detectable. Therefore, avoid violations that are prohibited by Google if you want to continue to participate in AdSense monetization.
With the increase in organic traffic on your site, the greater the chance for you to be reconsidered by AdSense.
With the rapid development of organic traffic, they may consider you a publisher who is proactive or responsive to account issues. Remember that adsense traffic analysis can be done using Google’s sophisticated engine and also manually by experts.
That’s a simple guide that at least helps solve the ad-restriction issue on the site. All suggestions in this guide are the result of the author’s interpretation during reading the legal AdSense guidelines.
If the ad restriction status on the linked account has disappeared, it means that your site is again given the opportunity to participate. Please re-enter the ad code and don’t repeat the same mistakes/omissions in the future.
Hope it is useful. Good luck for the future!
